Default 07 96" to 103" or 110" se kit whats best?

Ok here is where I need your guys advice. I plan on buying a 07 or 08 sg and putting a 103" or 110" se kit before I drive it home andthat keeps the factory warrenty. Never had a brand new harley with a warrenty and plan on adding the extended warrenty when I buy it. Money is really not the problem, but from what I have read on here the 103" se kit is just a bolt on for the 07 96" motor. While the 110" se kit requires splitting the cases. According to the www.nightrider.comweb site said this
"96 CID engines are known to have weak crankshaft bearings. For serious performance work these bearing must be replaced with the heavy duty bearings used in the CVO 110 engine. The 110 upgrade kit does not contain these bearings. Any 96CID based engine that is going to experience 'severe use' or is expected to produce over 110HP should consider this bearing upgrade. When the OEM bearings have a problem, the engine will experience a catastrophic failure."

I would think I could get the stealership to do this for me if I were to do the 110" se kit. My question is, has anybody done a 110" kit and how do they like it or the 103" kit and how they like that. Remember I want to keep the factory extended warrenty so I have to play by harelys rules.

Thanks for the help

What's the big deal with the warranty? Especially the extended warranty? You'll always have an uphill battle if you ever take it in for warranty work (the no questions asked thing they always say rarely, if ever, is true!)

Second, I don't believe the 110" SE kit will produce 110hp or more, so that shouldn't be an issue either. I'm sure the dealership will do the bearing replacement, but I'm also sure they will add that to the final cost of the upgrade (unless that's part of the process, which you make it sound like it isn't).

I havea 07 SG with the 103 kit installed. I added a V&H Pro Pipe BP and a fuel pak, I have a PCIII usb from fuel moto but they have not created a map for this config yet so I am waiting for Jamie to come up with one. Its runs great. No Dyno runs yet but its a significant improvement. I paid $2600 installed, the parts for the 110 in kit are about $2500 with out labor. I think the 103 kit was well worth it.

I have an 07 Ultra that I had my dealer add a stage II 103" kit to it, and I'm very pleased with the results. The dealer added the 103" kit to my bike for around $1600. If money isnt a problem with you then go with the 110". I chose the Stage II 103" because I felt it was the best bang for the buck. In the end, the 110" kit will wind up costing you about twice as much as the 103" kit.

Cost is truly the #1 factor. I have done the 103 Kit w/ Heads on a RG and I can't imagine going to a 110. The 103 Screams. I sounds as if your using your stock heads and as a result will not be raising compression. The dealer will do the timken upgrade and it should add $300 to the cost for machining. Jim's makes a kit for this conversion. I would not go to the 110 if I did not chane the bearings.

Either way you go you will be happy. It comes down to how much you wish to spend. The stock 96 is powerful so anything over that will be gravy.

Me? I'd go 103. For the extra money of the 110, you're not gaining that much HP or TQ(according to their little chart).

Chriscalabroiknow that the stealershiphonor the factory warrenty with the 103 kit, but what about the se heads. I just want to keep the warrenty and have the most performance I can. I went throught a little bit of buildingheadaces with putting an new evo motor in a82 fxr where a shove had went to pieces. I know how to twist wrenches but don't do it for a living. I just want to throw it back to stealership if something is wrong instead of opening my wallete to my local bike shop. (not that there bad at all). Also what kind of numbers are you getting out of you bike hp/tq?

Well, I went for the 110 kit and love it. Approximately $3600 installed. I had it done over the winter. My hp and tq numbers are on my signature. Pretty impressive,I feel. No issues with the bike, power everywhere. The peak hp and tq are higher than the 103. The curves on the hp and tq are much wider on the 110 than the 103, resulting in broader power over the normal use range.

How much it is worth to you is up to you. I am very happy with my choice!

i have an 07 night train and went with the 103 stage 2 big bore kit. i had the 255 cams installed and the dealer ported the heads and throttle body.I wasent about to pay msrp for the kit, and straight from harley it comes with mufflers that i didnt want.so i bought the kit off ebay for $600 and had it installed for $1093.

The bike makes power all over the rpm range
It dyno'd at 101 HP and 115 TQ
