Default Test rode 2nd time

So I test rode a 2009 road king classic, and I believe a 2014 ultra premium has navigation built into dash ect. So would like some feedback the road king had the stock seat and after 20-25 minutes my tail bone was feeling a little discomfort(dealer salesman said that's a terrible seat) ( I am 6'4 288lbs have a 32 inseam) The ultra had what I think was the tall boy seat was better but still a little discomfort. A little info on my current bike I have a v rod w/forward controls, love the bike but just isn't comfortable for my frame, I also ride a super sport touring bike 95% of the time and the pegs are underneath me and I lean foward ever so slightly which takes the weight of my tail bone and puts it more on my inner thighs very comfortable for me( I do 1400 mile 3 day rides no problem) is there a seat that would be a better fit on the touring HD that would help me out? This is my biggest concern as I would be sick if I bought a bike and after riding it for a few hours I wasn't comfortable. Thoughts are greatly appreciated I know there has to be some big guys out there that have figured this out. Thanks

I'm 6'1", I ride a 2010 electraglide CVO. I couldn't find an off the shelf seat that fit me properly. I sat on a lot of bikes. I took the bike to Seattle and had Rich's Custom Seats build me a seat , fit perfectly to me and my GF. He told me I need to change the bars as well. I havent completed that part yet. Being comfortable is most important to me on long rides.

....... 6'2, 260 here, and have a Saddleman Road Sofa on my Road Glide
.... 600 mile days are not an issue
........ lots of folks have had their stock seats modified by Mean City with great success
..... or really baby yer butt & have Russell craft a DayLong saddle for ya
.... once you get your seating sorted out, you'll really love that touring rig

luckily I am good with the stock ultra seat- 6'1" 225 ish

recently swapped to a cop seat ( I had back surgery) I like the upright position..getting ready to swap to closer bars 2+2 style

Fitting takes some thought

ALL the touring model post 2009 can interchange seats.

I couldn't stand either seat on my road kings. The 2016 being a real ball buster. I run mustangs on both bikes now.

The second part of mike's advice is also relevant about the handle bar position. My 2010 king bar position is not optimal. I will be swapping them out over the winter. Hand position has a lot to do with comfort and posture.

Your local dealer may have a selection of test seats you can try out on your own bike. They will also have a selection of bikes in the showroom you can check out. Call by and take time to talk things through with them - they sometimes have what they call a 'fit centre' or something similar, to help owners get comfy. You're not the first tailbone sufferer!

for me and my *** we like the Corbin, tried several previously to the Corbin like a tallboy modded stocker sundowner and some other one.
Have rode up to a 1k day followed by several multi hundred mile days ending with another 1k day.
Will not say the *** and I were discomfort free but way better than any previous seat.

If it matters at the time I was about 280 standing at 6'2" 33"inseam

I went a different route.
I put Forward controls on my '14 FLHX and then on my '15 FLHTCU.
As soon as they come in, I'll have Jaybrake Forwards on my '16 FLHXS.
On my '13 RK, I toughed it out (sore b u t t)until I traded for the '14 FLHX.

My seats were OK, just needed my butt bones down on the seat instead of feeling like I was tippy-toeing on the floor boards.

BTW, I'm 6'3" and 225

I LOVE these Forward controls..................

All stock seats suck in my opinion so your salesman was right. That's why that's probably the most common aftermarket part sold out there.

Don't let the seat make your decisions for you on the bike, what ever you buy, you will probably at some point change the seat.

As grbrown mentioned, they have demo seats for the upgrade HD seats at the dealership. Pick one you like and have them put it on the bike and take it for a ride to try it out. Then test your haggling skills and see tell them you'll buy the bike if they throw in the better seat.

That or look at the many aftermarket options that are all better than the stock seat.
