Being in michigan lowest we've rode in on purpose was 20 degs for a fall color ride up to traverse city from outside of detroit. 12 hours all two lane backroads to get there. 4 layers of clothes looked like the Michelin man riding a bike. Only once did we do that. Now nothing below 40 if i can help it.
eh, too much mud to try an wrestle a 800+ lb bike out of a shed it was driven in 2 month's ago......it'll do just fine til mid march.....it will, but I won't!!
anyone with a touring rig you should be riding in your area until the salt hits the roads AND as someone who " RIDES TO LIVE " I cant take going that many months without getting a ride in even if its only 30 miles or I get that winter depression thing going on..
these things keep the wind out of my sleeves and allow me to ride with regular riding gloves all year round.. if you have heated grips then you have it made when using these and with TBW they are on and off in 2 minutes
I have ridden down in to the teens using this same set up on my switchback
Heated gear is worth the investment. Enough said.
My son and I bought a ice fishing shack to pull around to our favorite lakes this winter. Something to look forward to at the end of the day.

That's the boat I'm in. With my Deluxe, I was OK down to about 40F, less than that it was short rides only for me until the salt and sand hit the roads. With the Limited, I'm not even thinking about extra layers until it's below 50, and the summer gloves stay on down to around 40 (never thought I'd love heated grips so much! 😀.
Unfortunately only got one short ride in in the mid 30s last year before the sand and salt were all over the place. So I don't really know how longer rides will be in low temps. Usually my hands are the first problem, but guessing that will change between fairing, winter gloves and the grip heaters.
I have heated grips and seat on my bike and I have heated gloves and a jacket liner with a FF modular helmet, a lined leather "dicky" (throat protector).
I also have a recurve windshield and hand wind deflectors on my bike.
I'll ride in 45 degree weather for limited distances in the fall but once the salt hits the roads my bike doesn't come out of the garage until mid-April.
I have a truck with a windshield, wipers, heater and heated seats for winter crusing!
50 degs. at 50mph = 25deg.to cold for me. but did leave here a few yrs back headed to daytona, was 32deg. I think it took us 16 hrs. to get there. Not again, nope.
kroozeabout.
