I told one of the parts guys at my local dealership that he's like a crack cocaine dealer on my second visit in one day to give them more of my hard earned money. He said "ya, I knew you'd be back".

This is so true. I changed my legs and then the whole front end progressed as Joe has stated.

Alot of good deals on chrome exchanges out there.

I'm having the Harley chrome lower kit done over the winter while my Ultra is in storage. This is also the perfect time to do Progressive monotube kit since the front end will be apart anyway.

As others have mentioned, this winter project has snowballed for me as well. Aside from the aforementioned work, I'm also doing chrome Impeller wheels and polished rotors along with new Metzler ME888 front and rear. I don't have any plans to trade in my 2009 Ultra for a few years so the expense is worth it (to me).

While you are at it, consider installing Progressive cartridges or at least a Prigressive spring. I had Progressive springs installed when my chrome forks were installed. They are a huge improvement in handling and ride.

I've heard the HD kit isn't chromed all the way around? The inside of the legs aren't chromed? Is this true?

No. Never heard that before. Seeing how they're dipped don't know exactly how they'd accomplish only doing the one side.

You can get the Harley chrome fork legs kit at one of the 20% off dealers. Have your
Indy do the install, that can save a few dollars.

That's bullshit. The HD legs I bought in 2010 for my bike are nicely chromed on all external surfaces. Now if HD has started some half-*** chroming process since then, that may be a different story. But that seems highly unlikely.

Harley legs are all chrome, but, they don't polish off the rough casting marks before chroming. Most all other chromers DO polish all the rough stuff off before chrome. It looks way better to me, IMHO. I just got some from ***** Shiny and they are perfect! They do motorcycle stuff so they know what NOT to chrome. I highly recommend them. Also, they send the chrome parts to you and you have 30 days to return the stock ones. No core charge unless you don't send them back. Can't beat that deal with a stick!
