Default Chrome Forks

Im looking to get chrome forks for my 2012 street glide. I would like to buy the parts a little ahead of time then have my Indy install them. Any advise on what I need to buy, the more I research the more confused I get. Do I just need the chrome forks? Thanks ahead of time.

A lot of people here have good things to say about wily shiny (not shure I spelled it right). Check them out. They have an exchange program that allows for you to return your cores within a certain amount of time.

Most Indy's have an exchange set. They put their chrome one's on and keep yours to be chromed for the next customer. Check with them and they might have a set and you won't have to buy another and then they can turn it quick. Or they can remove yours, send them to the chrome shop and reinstall.

Either way, no need to buy another set then be stuck with your take offs.

+1 on ***** shiney. I personally haven't used them but I frequently hear good things about them. I would contact them and see if seals are needed, and I'm almost sure they will be. Fork oil too. http://www.willyshiny.com/fork-legs/...ouring-chrome/

I got my exchange units on e-bay--Impress Plating--Nothing but excellent. Top quality chrome and I didn't have to clean out any bolt holes or sealing surfaces. Can't say enough good about them.

Not trying to steal your thunder, but I had the same results with Sport Chrome (forum sponsor)

In fact I just got an email last night about a flash sale - you might want to check them out

Use code "VIPFlashSale"

Other than the fork sliders themselves, the fork seals, damper bolts w/crush washers and maybe the drain screw washers (if that model year has the drain screws) will need to be replaced. Those are all one time use parts. If your Indy has those parts then you won't need to buy anything else.

If you're buying all the parts and just having him do the work, go to an HD dealer and get the required fork seals, damper bolt kit and the drain screw kit. Shouldn't need anything else other than fork oil.

I'll be the odd man out. The one time we used a chrome things didn't fit right. Too much chrome is not a good thing.

On my 08 SG and my 16 RGS I bought the kit from Harley. Has all the parts you need and has zero miles. It's all new. Not someone's used parts they chromed.

But like I said. I'll be the odd man out.

I used the Harley Chrome legs. In addition to the innards, you will need new chrome cowbells. Then you will need a new set of chrome wheels, then of course chrome axle nut covers, then polished stainless steel caliper bolts, then .... well that's probably enough for now.
