I used to run one in the car but with everyone going to instant on laser it was pretty useless.

That was a couple of years ago, have detectors changed much since then?

i run one each on each of my baggers.

Whistler Cruisaders..............round detector that fits in the smaller gauge hole. i think they are discontinued, but sometimes available on ebay. the seperate sensor eye mounts anywhere towards the front of the bike with clear field of radar trapping.

They still can't detect a radar or laser that isn't switched on. Besides a laser once it hits you its too late. There is no early warning unless you are getting signal from the laser hitting another car. When that tone goes off you are caught. As for radar some of the traffic cops will wait till the last second and flip the switch. I think having a radar detector is useless and just another piece of clutter but that's just my opinion. Setting cruise at 5 over will save a lot of heartache and money.

Since there is no radar horn to direct the beam, it transmits in all directions and reduces it's effective distance, but it will activate radar detectors up to about one hundred yards or so. thats just mean frank....but funny as all get out.
i run a valentine one in my truck. never saw the need on the bike. i use waze on the bike once in awhile. social media relays a lot of the LEO positions or the fact that they are in the area.

Re the radar detector activator, I built one for my car, too. When my wife and I went on a trip she said I shouldn't use it...said it was mean. After about an hour of "testing brake lights" she decided it looked like fun and said, "Give the switch to me. I want to do it now."

I use a Valentine 1 mounted inside the faring. Then use the remote head indicator which sits on my bikes dash. All the LEOs around here are still on K-band, no lasers. Turning off and on depends on the individual LEO. Most of the time if you run into an on-and-offer, you will detect his tactics long before he can detect you (assuming you are paying attention and the roads are straight enough). Seems most of the lasers are in the cities. The county offices for the most part spend more time delivering court summons than they do operating speed traps. I don't have a unit just so I can speed, I have it to keep me alert in the event there is a speed trap and I have failed to notice that the speed limit has changed. Don't buy a cheap unit, you get what you pay for.

Of course a concern troll will be along any minute to tell you how the FCC is going to love you tenderly but I heartily approve this device.
