I just traded my 06 Fatboy for a 07 Electra Glide Classic. I loved the fatboy for the short around town trips but for long rides, 100+ miles, it was miserbly uncomfortable. Now let me explain I've had a back injury so other folks may not find the FB uncomfortable. Last weekend I put 97 non-stop miles on the EGC without a bit of back or backside pain if you know what I mean. My EGC is stock except for a lower windshield.
The 96blows awaythe 88B. The tranny is much improved also. I find the posted speed limits in my area 30, 40, 50, 65 were always right at the top or bottom of the gear range with the 06. The 07 falls right around the middle.
Having a place to put stuff and tunes are a big plus too.
Comfort, Tunes (BIG+), Storage Galore, Passenger Room,Fairing, Cruise,.......... it goes on and on my friend. Plusand a bagger will out handle a Fatboy any day.
So true! I was blown away by the handling of the EGC
Amazing isn't it. I could not believe how you can just throw em into a turn, scrape the floor boards and laugh like He!! You look at em and say I bet it handles like a cinder block. Man that's so far from the truth.
Unbelievalbe, once I added the PCIII and changed the a/c & slipons, the 07 UC exceeded my expectations. Funny thing, I didn't buy it, my wife got it for me as a Christmas present! I read all the posts about 5th gear clatter and the high heat as the bike sat in the garage waiting for spring. My build date is Oct 16, 2006 and when I finally got to take the bike out I was suprised how quiet 5th gear was. I could hear it but as the miles increase the sound is decreasing. My last two bikes were baggers, this one makes three but the others can't hold a candle to it.
Do it! You will be suprised and you won't regret it!
