Looking at possibly buying a radio and some speakers for my 2003 EG Standard. Did anyone ever deal with or hear of this guy selling them off of E-Bay?
Looks like a good deal to me but I don't want to buy any junk.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks Guys!
489$ Holy ****
STOP...STOP...STOP...STOP...STOP...STOP...STOP...S TOP...
DONT BUY THIS FROM EBAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Save your self some money. Do this..you will have the same results for less money.
This is what I did..
Buy the radio (yes the same radio) from Amazon...again...yes the same radio for 115$
Buy the Biketronics retro radio kit. This is a module that allows the stock HD handlebar control to control the radio volumne, change channels, etc. Just as on a stock 1500$ HD radio. This kit also comes with the backing (filler plate) and the adapters that allow the Sony radio to mount inside the fairing as does the stock HD radio.
Also buy the splash guard from Biketronics...about 15$ or so. This will keep the water out when washing or in the rain and you can detach it an put in your saddlebags when not in use.
Now, call Pez at Hogtunes and get a set of speakers.
This ebay seller wants nearly 500$ for a 115$ radio.
Here is the purchas price for all my items.
118.97 Sony CDX-GT510 In dash CD/MP3 palyer radio
226.90 Biketronics Retro Radio kit and splash guard
330.00 Hogtunes front (fairing) speakers and the rear speakers and speaker pods. (only the front speakers deduct about 200$).
total 675.87...only front speaker around 475.00 (this is less than the ebay seller wants JUST for the radio.
[sm=icon_cheers.gif]See, this is why I brought the question to the Forum!!!!!!!
Thanks for the insight, looks like I better step back and re-evaluate the situation.
Thanks Again Guys!
I'm also getting the kit from biketronics since I can't see spending the extra cash for the Harley radio. Plus I already have sirius for my truck and also the biketronics radio can use mp3's as well. Definately a great price for the entire package.
savemore $$$$ go to any electronics store (BestBuy, Circuit City, Etc.)listen to the car audio speakers---get the ones that sound best to you make sure they are made out of polypropolene (sp) IMHO better sound, much lower cost.
no it does not!!! But I have my mp3 player mounted on my console which controls the cd player. All I have to do is take my left hand and control it. I can feel the buttons on the mp3 player so I know where they are like on the handle bar controls. I personaly hate the radio controls on the bars, thats why I got rid of them when I went to internal bar wiring. I think it is a waste of money for the kit to make the handle bar controls work. I think you will find out that the kits people are selling will skip just like the harley cd player. Mine does ocasionaly, that is why I have an mp3 player. I can also tell you that in the last year I have listened to it 3 times on several rides. It is one of those deals that is cool but I never use it. The pipes make the "radio" for me.
