2016 Limited Ultra. Stock windshield was too short, so I bought a 12", but I now have this annoying glare/reflection in it. I can see the chrome gas door reflected onto the windshield, right in front of me. Covered the fuel door with some electrical tape (before I buy a black fuel door), and it helps, but just wondering if anybody else noticed it with a Harley windshield, and if you bought another mfgr, and it's now OK. Thanks.
That is precisely why I got on the flip shields as I hate looking through a shield. Glare can be a very bad thing, especially when it hits at a bad time such as going into a sharp turn with a loved one aboard. Plenty of better shields out there so do a little research but I like LRS.
Living in PHX this is always a concern, I sometimes just flip my lid up or I wrap a bandana over the lid.
And it's been the same on my evo and TC baggers, with which ever windscreen I have.
glare in the cockpit is hard on the eyes- when I was bike shopping, one of the bikes was red hot sunglo with inner fairing painted- it was really bad.
I bought the other one.
I have the stock one on currently with no issue but have two Long Ride Shield (LRS) models on order, the Ultra and the Javelin. (The windsplitter I bought didn't work as well as I was told and took it off.) LRS is a sale right now and I would bet either of those would work well for you as they're not the same angles as stock.
Polarized sunglasses will eliminate the glare. I've been looking through m/c windshields for over 20 years and would never ride in daylight without polarized sunglasses. In fact the Harley PPZ (partial polarization) sunglasses are even better.
I have two Long Ride Shields. Never had a problem with glare on either one. Probably going to sell the 9" as it's a bit too short for me. I also have the HJC helmet with the drop down visor.
I've owned 3 bikes with windshields and all have had that "reflection". It's not glare. It bothered me for about a minute. Then I realized I'm riding a 1000 pound, $30k motorcycle at 80 mph and I should be looking through the windshield instead of looking at the windshield. Get some self control.
