HD offers only one cooler for the '07 http://www.latus-harley-davidson.com...amp;review=addIt seems to have external oil lines. How obtrusive are they? I searched and some said that they seep? It uses rubber lines with clamps, why the heck not some real hydraulic lines? I've run coolers all over my Jeep and the only time they ever leaked was if not installed properly.
and that is the key, make sure the cooler is installed right, you can always run some stainless braided line, but at extra cost. The kit comes with the oil filter adaptor and the hoses just go on the nimples with clamps, pretty straight foward, again if done right I don't think there would be a problem
just a side note: the chrome regulator cover doesn't fit with this cooler either, even though the premium cooler is not listed in the P&A catalog as one that won't work with the cover. Wanna buy an almost new regulator cover? Also, the instructions i got with my cooler were a POS. they were not quite correct for the wiring around the regulator. think they were written for pre-07s.
I just installed mine yesterday and the bike is running about 20 deg cooler. My only issue is it appears one of the lines may be seeping. I tightened the claps pretty dang tight so unless I cut one of them I don't see why it would be leaking. I just did the install last night and put about 20 miles on it and found some oil on the bottom line. This could be left over from the install but I thing the line is seeping at the oil filter adapter. What do ya'll use to clean the oil off after doing a fluid change? I heard brake cleaner.
Snort:
Take a look at the Jagg coolers.
If you do a lowmount on your King they have a new model #2300. It's not on their website yet. You can call and ask about it. Supposedly cools much better.
although i have one, the other thing i don't like is that the stealer told me, and the instructions say the same thing, is thatyou can't buy the pre-formed hoses separately. thus, if you do blow one, you have to deal with getting a new hose to hook up and not kink.
The clamps that are supplied with the kit will cut into the hose and become lose because of the slots in the clamp band. Replace the clamps with the type that has a solid band.
