From what I heard from the dealer, once it gets paired with the electronics it isn't so easy to swap and guess most would not want to swap anything...

Meant it to have a look in person to see all features before dropping the coin on one. You're right, most speedos are "permanent" once paired with the bike.

I agree with you, not real concerned with gear indicator as I am with mini tachometer, as my sight is not as sharp as it once was. Hard to adjust to such a small tach when running out the gears taking eyes off the road to look down focusing on that micro tach is extremely nerve racketing between 60 & 80 mph....

As I stated few months back in another related thread, that I prefer location & size of 4 1/2 inch "Police tachometer" up front centered just below eye sight from road, over intergraded novelty speedometer / tachometer / gear indicator / etc, / etc.....

Intergraded unit looks great when at a stop light and when you need to impress your friends, but for me it's dysfunctional especially size of tachometer IMHO.

I know I'm not a fan of the police-style tach, and when I mentioned that option to her, she made a face like I had 3 eyes. LOL!

I think that she's most interested in the gear indicator, then the color options, and lastly the tachometer. LOL.

That's an significant amount of change to put out just for gear indicator. Why don't you look into Harley's parts accessories catalog for add on located on my 2012 Touring page 621, "Digital Gear Indicator" attaches to handlebar, inside next to start switch. 219.95 black or chrome. Plug & play no wiring or programing needed.

Just an alternative solution...

You should see our weekly bar tab! 😆

No, I do appreciate it. I did see that one and suggested it, but she didn't like that, either.

Really, the speedo isn't that bad - just about $260 at Boardtracker.

That's the speedo I have, have had it a few years, I like it.
If you go thru all the color combos, you would go crazy. I believe they may be endless.
The speedo does mate with your bike in a set # of miles, there is a small window where if you didn't like it you can go back, but it's not much - it explains this in the info with the unit.
I say go for it.
I like the tach...

If the tach were bigger, I'd have one.

Put one on my Dyna and I think it is some of the best money spent in terms of add-on's. Speed, tach, gear. And it's dead sexy!
