Periodically when I would go to start, it sounded like the starter was not fully engaged, and at times would kickback. it got significantly worse. I'd say 50 % of the starts. I have started it at least 50 times since swap, seems to be the fix. The orginal clutch had wear on the gear. Here is what it was doing.
I rebuilt with new battery, last year.used a new HD clutch and solenoid kit. worked good for a bit but drained/killed the new battery, I knew I should have just replaced it....
fast forward. Got the all ***** , it came with a stat sheet showing the tests they put it through before shipping...1.69 kw...and other stuff
The one thats direct replacement/upgrade for my bike. paid 330 after a few searches...then the next day saw two listings for 248, and 252. so look a bit harder.

Reason: spelling killed batt
i got the cables from phatp and the pos cable was a little longer(not a problem, neg cable a little shorter(worked out ok), 42$ didnt really shop for those. phatp had the yuasa battery too for 132$ smart move.
ran accel cable from ground to starter bolt, stock gr cable from there to a new post i made in front of batt on frame, then ran another stock neg cable from there to engine ground, like a chain arrangement. all along the chain of grounds i secured the crap out of them..red locktite, nice bolts, replaced the one bolt on starter rigging a 2&1/2 bolt (with an extra nut to remove some slack) but still longer to really get down in the threads and still longer to pass through two gr cables. half measures get you no were...lol
