Very nice ride. Welcome to the touring family.
On another note. If you are going to keep that shifter. Get rid of the ends and put heim joints on the ends so you do not experience that episode. Just my 2 cents. Ride safe man enjoy the ride.
Save the old connectors from the shifter. So if you see someone on the side of the road and their shifter let go. Here you go
so the oem shifter connectors are as bad as the oem saddlebag connectors??

Definitely good advice, i forgot about that, had a different linkage on my fat bob, will definitely be changing that.

Not as bad but bad. The saddle bag connectors are That in itself is a completely ridiculous way to mount a saddle bag. Pick one of these kind of connectors and call it safe. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...urity&_sacat=0
Just ideas on the type you can buy. Better product at your local hardware dept.

use the nuts that are on your stock shifter to lock the heim joints in place once screwed on the rod. Don't forget locktite.
I ended up buying a new shift linkage that had heim joints on it already on Amazon for like 20 bucks. Ordered the new front wheel too, I know I'm not going to feel comfortable taking curves with that tire like that, I'll just go easy on it until it gets here.
as long as you accelerate out of the curves you'll be fine. I'd try not to ever get in a deceleration at the curve. with any tire for that matter. Me to on the shifter change, good luck this season, clearly it isn't here yet.

Yea season not quite here where I'm at, had a few nice days and now it's freezing out again. One thing I don't like to play with is tires, so making sure the right thing is in place is a must for me. I'm used to riding sporty bikes, still have a sport tourer, I know a bagger isn't going to handle nearly the same, but I don't want to worry about completely babying it in curves. Anyway that linkage came quick, fit perfectly and I could see the old one was definitely looking shoddy.
