I was trying to negotiate $22,000, but was told to take a hike...after purchasing my last two bikes at same store, some loyalty...lol
So the cost details are as follows:
1. Vivid Black RKS - $21,999.00
2. California Equipment & CARB Fees - $204.44
3. Freight - $435.00
-------------
Subtotal - $22,638.44
California Sales Tax SD county- 7.775% $1,754.48
CA DMV License Fee - $245.00
Dealer Setup - $353.00
-------------

So what you guys/gals think? better deal elsewhere? wait? There are some left over 2017s at another dealer, have not talked numbers with them yet...I know different cities/states have varying costs, but I just wanted to get some ball park figures and extra fees...The invoice pricing per at See Dealer Cost website $18,039.00 & MSRP is $21,999.00 difference is $3,960.00 almost $4K...

On the another note, I was torn between the '18 Heritage SC & RKS...well the test ride did it. What I noticed at speeds between 75 & 80 mph, I experienced mild to severe buzzing in the handle bars...and mirrors were vibrating wildly, just like my old '03 Softail. I was totally surprized, did not expect that from a newly designed frame...
On the RKS, at same speed and road, it was butter smooth all the way...so that last test ride did it for me, I am sold on the RKS, just need to get fair pricing...
thanks,
DC

The dealers I've gone to that just charge MSRP seem to move the popular bikes like the RKS very fast and they are not on the floor when you go in to see them.
My plan this week when trying to find one is to either work with a dealer that sells at MSRP and wait for one to come in, or start looking farther out of the area and see what I can find. Probably going to hit up the Sacramento area next or look towards Fresno. It doesn't seem like we're going to get any deals like the guys that live where they see snow and sales actually slow after summer.
So far, it feels like another case of California/Bay Area taxes where they think everyone has more money than brains and will just pay what they ask for a HD.
For comparison, I committed to buy a fairly hard to find (around here at least) Ducati yesterday and the dealer discounted it just over $1200 under MSRP when there really was no need to, no other dealer in 100 miles had one in this color for sale that I could find. Overall with taxes, registration, freight, and PDI/setup fees I paid $1,700 over base MSRP out the door.
They uncrated it and did the PDI yesterday and I am picking it up on Tuesday when the shop reopens.
a Charcoal Denim.
This is what i paid for mine.
The 1,600 add on was some slip ons, day maker, flat gas caps... etc... I paid them up front but worked it to deal for warranty purposes.
All and all that 22,800 was my take home including all fees and gap.
