Default Gear driven cams

I have read more articles than I can count in regards to the TC88 cam chain tensioners. I have a friend that installed gear driven cams, but has less than 5000 miles on them. It ha a little whine I can live with, but does anyone have them with high miles? If so any trouble? All comments appreciated

I went to gear drives after a few of my club brothers did on their bikes. My Road Captain rides 17,000 miles a year or more, and he's never had a problem in five years. I just did mine last winter and I've got 9,000 miles since installation, with no problems. The engine sounds a little different at idle, but the exhaust note is downright mean. Not any louder, just "tougher". Go to a reputable shop to have it done and I guarantee you won't regret it. Fewer moving parts in your engine means less heat, wear and friction. All good, IMO...

What size cam is it? part number?

What can I expect for performance?

I just talked to a guy about doing this yesterday.

Had Andrews 26g's installed in my 2000 Ultra last Feb. I have 35K on the bike and rode to Myrtle and back putting on a little over 1100 miles. The bike does sound different, not the whine I've heard others talk about, but some clatter. Big difference in low end torque around 3K rpms. Gas mileage is still over 40 mpg. Had to add a PCIII USB cause I was running abit lean (added V&H Basics too).

I have 13k on mine. No problems. Mine whines just the slightest bit. If I don't point it out to people, they don't notice. I used Andrews 26 cams. They are noisy compared to the stock ones. That doesn't bother me. The bike pulls like a freight train on the bottom end. My gas mileage is also in the low 40's.

I went with S&S 510G cams. No whine to speak of. Definate increase in torque. The bike pulls hard from about 2,200 rpm up. I don't know numbers, as I haven't had the bike dyno'd since I installed the cams. I'll let you know after Wednesday...

Did the 510 G's on mine over Thanksgiving Vacation, really like em. I can hear a little whine at idle but it goes away when everything else starts making noise where the R's go up. Just took off my V&H TD's and put on a Bassani Road Rage. Pouring here right now so i'll have to wait till the AM to see what it did for the bike. Just fired it up in the Garage, I like it, whole different sound.
