Default HOG or AMA

I am curious, which do you riders prefer?
Which has the most bang for the $

I'm a hog member because it came with the bike. I was in the AMA because I had to so I could race sanctioned events. The HOG map is cool. I prefer keeping membership fees and dues money in my pocket and riding alone.

What are you looking to get? Or give? I know each organization (not club) has their respective charities and events. Organized rides.

Look into what you can get out of each one. What will fit with your lifestyle. Then just go for it and have fun.

I've joined both. While I'm active in neither, they both have their benefits if you use them or need them. Plus, I am of the belief that if I help to support them with membership dues, I am making a small contribution to the the entity of motorcycling. Could be but I'm not an AARP member. You? I mean I would rather support groups that I have interest in than ones I don't. Not interested in getting old.

Some advice, go with AAA. I have HOG and AAA, had to get towed once out of state. There was no HOG towing in the area, AAA was there in 45 mins. Driver told me the HOG one isn't that good, not all the local tow companies are contracted to HOG so you may be SOL when you need it.
AAA premium tows 100 miles up to 4x a year and will do 1 free 200 mile tow, plus I think it covers lodging too not sure on that one though.

I'm a Lifetime HOG member and I have towing under my bike insurance.
However, we have AAA RV and if I can't get a two from them, I'll use whomever I can and then see if I can get reimbursed from ? once me and my bike is secure.

I am Lifetime HOG member for the social side of riding, and a 20+ year member of AMA to support all types of motorcycling. Both have road assistance, HOG for motorcycle only, AMA covers all my vehicles. I've not needed to use the service from either but I know it's there if I do.

At the present I have both due to just buying a new bike, HOG came with the bike but I have had AMA for many years. The big difference is in the roadside service benefits IMHO.

HOG covers one HD bike for one service per year up to $100. Hog you can add on 3 additional levels of roadside coverage for $20, $30 or $ 50 additional. For the $20 or $30 additional you get coverage on two HDs with unlimited roadside service. For the additional $50 you can have 3 vehicles covered one of which can be a car/truck but only HD bikes

With AMA you get unlimited roadside service but no more than one of the same type service in a seven day period. You could get for instance a tow and then a few days later fuel delivered or tire service, just not two tows in 7 days. The plus is it apples to all of your vehicles any brand bike you own, your car, RV, trailer etc... On limitation is no commercial vehicles.

Both have their pros/cons on all the other benefits, hotel discounts, magazines etc... but to me the big difference is in the roadside service where I think AMA is better as it covers all bikes not just HD and will cover all your personal vehicles VS HD which will only cover at most 2 HD bikes and one vehicle but that cost $50 in addition to the $49 membership fee. HOG will tow a bike to the nearest HD dealer even if its more than 35 miles where AMA will only cover up to 35 miles, however HOG if you pay the additional $50 will only tow a car 35 miles which is same as with AMA

Thanks to all who replied. All of it is good stuff and pretty much what I expected from the road warriors. Experience speaks volumes.
As my wife and I ride pretty much alone, I just want some extra assurance in case we have problems. Now, the rest is up to me to decide.
Thanks again.
