Need some help.
I'm looking at an 02 Electra Glide Standard today or tomorrow. It's basically stock. Has little or no miles (3K?) Due to health reasons he couldn't ride (reason for selling). It's a carb model. Has a Roadglide seat, the shorty black wind deflector. It also has the Samson Rolled Thunder slip ons and a carb re-jet. Prob has a few extra chome parts, nothing major like fork sliders or eng parts (rkr covers etc).
It's "supposed" to be perfect conf. I've known this guy for years, haven't seen the bike close up, but his stuff is always cherry.
He wants 16 for it. I know new ones cost that, byt then ya have to buy all the stuff this bike already has, plus all the dealer prep and state taxes.
[sm=jawdrop.gif]Waaaaaaaaay too much for an '02 EGS IMO.It wouldn't matter to me if he kept it in a glass case since taking delivery. Friends like that.........who needs enemies?[sm=joke.gif]
You're buying a new "old" bike. Price is way too high for what you're gettin. Take a look atblue-book or look around at what's being asked for similar bikes and either negotiate a realistic price or continue to shop. just my $.02.
Ok. Thank you. I will take (all of) your advise. I thought it was a high. The prices are all over the board. And who knows, he may come down.
I do know that 02-04's are good in the tourling line
Yeah as others have said way, way too much coin for what it is. [:'(]As a reference for you. I bought my 99 Road Glide last May. This thing was turned into a Ultra. It's got it all and then some. Paid $10,500 for it. Yeah it had 40k on it but man i got a really nice bike for a pretty good price.
Go to CycleTrader and input the distance you'll search out. Then look atpotential rides andoffer something above the KBB dealer trade-ins -you'll wind up with a great HD at a very low price. Don't like the color? Paint it! Pipes? Buy different ones! A new HD won't be new once it's in your garage anyway. Take advantage of someone else's loss and ride free.
