Default Fuel connector leak

Hi,

I did search for this, but all I found were threads pertaining to older bikes, I don't know if I'm in the same boat or not. I removed the tank from my 2011 FLHTK to run some wiring under the tank. When I reinstalled the tank and connected the fuel line, I now have a fuel leak.

The parts fiche is no help, can anyone tell me for sure if there is an o-ring on the male fuel line fitting that slides into the quick disconnect on the tank? There's a notch around the fitting like an o-ring might go in there. I didn't notice when I removed it.

If no o-ring, I suspect the problem may be in the female quick disconnect valve. Are these serviceable, or do I just need to buy a new one from the dealer?

Thanks,

I believe that the service manual refers to an o-rings in there, and if I recall correctly, it's the same o-rings as the drain plugs. Take a peek in the manual for details.

There is a smaller o-ring in the female fitting that goes bad. or in your case maybe it popped out... there was a pic on this forum of the o-ring in question, but I can't find that thread...

Pay attention to post #4 in this thread, it may help......

Thanks for the info, but can anyone tell me if there should be an o-ring on the male fitting?

Not sure how close you are to Flagstaff, but a buddy of mine broke down last year on the rally ride with a fuel leak. There was a shop just east of the dealer there by the airport shops that fixed it for him and sells the parts to replace the orings. HD wont sell parts, they only sell the entire line in the tank.
After that trip I bought the fuel tool and keep it on the bike while on trips. Probably never use it.

Flagstaff is about 2 hours away from me. Thanks for the info, though.
