Some things I wish I knew before installing the Dakota Digital Gauges (MCL-3014) on my 2017 Ultra Limited.
1. If you have the Milwaukee 8 engine there isn't a plug next to the drain plug and don't bother taking the larger one out on the right front either. The sensor is too small for that whole.
2. Called Dakota and quickly got Tech Support. On these engines you have to put the sensor where the drain plug is. I was not happy with losing the magnet and having to remove the sensor assembly during every oil change.
3. Good news. Tech said don't install it and in the menu disable sensor and it will read rear cylinder head temp from ECM.
I told tech they really need to add that to their website and bold letters in the instructions as I removed the plug and drained the oil for nothing.
I hope this information helps someone else. Other than that the install was easy and looks great.
