power vision
Well I am looking to you all to help me make a decision. Yesterday I visited Rob's Dyno Service in Gardner Mass. My friend was having Rob tune his CVO and while there I asked about bringing my 08 ultra back in to do some additional tuning as he did my tune back in 2012. After I put in SE 255 cams Rob took the bike and woke it up....I love how my bike runs, however I have been looking for some fuel economy lately. So yesterday I asked what he can do and he suggested we get rid of the power commander that I have installed and upgrade to the power vision. Rob charges $650 to do this. Dyno time is included in this which is about 2-3hrs. Now the cost of one of the modules is $550.....Because I know what he can do to make the bike run at its full potential, I am looking for advice on if this is a good change to make.....if anyone has gone this route and what their thoughts are.
I visited Rob back in 14 when I added CAMS. I too had run a PC5 when he tuned it. Just this season I upgraded to a 2/1 with a PV. The PV's map came preloaded from fuelmoto.
I would like to take it to get it dyno'd again but honestly the map from FM seems spot on. Also with the PV you can run some autotunes. I haven't done that yet but I guess it cleans up any issues and fine tunes the tune.
Also the PV is awesome it does all sorts of stuff above and beyond just flashing the ECM. It has all sorts of gauges, the autotune I mentioned, it has multiple slots for tunes. So you could have a performance tune and a fuel efficient tune. You could flash either in a heartbeat. Last it can show any codes the bike throws as well.
You can sell your PC5 to offset the cost as well. I got $165 for mine on the classifieds here. But that was last year. Check out fuelmoto as well. FM will also take your old PC5 in credit if you purchase a new tuner from them.

Make sure you get your own module. Some Tuners just buy an additional License for their PV and you don't own one.
Motorcycle Super Store and Dennis Kirk are selling PV for $429 and Fuel Moto offers

Fuel moto will give you a map that came from bikes with the same equipment as yours that were Dynoed.
Good Luck

I love how the bike runs so I'm leaving it alone, after spending $650, fuel savings would not kick in till after 25,000 (low est.) additional miles on the bike.
OR, put the PV on, get better gas mileage at the expense of performance then when you sell the bike keep the PV for the next bike. BUT by that time a new version of PV might be out.

the pv has pretty much stayed the same since it's release. they have updated the firmware several times though

I am intrigued of the PV. The ability to obtain more real time information has its merits.Plus, maybe an extra mile or two in fuel economy? Nah. Sent an email to Fuel Moto and the response essentially was to keep the PCV as PCV works flawlessly and mileage is fine for me. If and when it goes up some day, then I will definitely look hard at the PV.

My original post point is, it's not worth the change to a PV if you have PC5.
