Squeaky shifting

on a 2005 Ultra, i'm getting a "squeek" when I shift.
It sounds like its coming from the horizontal rod between the shift lever on the floorboard and the vertical arm attached to the shift rod.
Is there some way to lube this shaft?

spray something in there and see if it quits. you can replace those bushings and even pingle makes one with a grease fitting in it. try some chain lube, goes in thin and thickens up.

Simple enough to remove the shifter shaft and lay in some white grease. Pingel makes a greaseable shaft, but for $100, to me, it's easy enough to do it as above.

So there's nothing in there other than possibly a bushing, so just unscrew the shift lever on the inside and slide it out?

Grease

If I wanted to grease the shaft, I would do it with some high temp grease, or teflon trailer ball grease. The teflon stands up to about 650 degrees.
