I have owned a Softail custom(1996 EVO) for about 15 years. Just purchased a 2013 ultra classic. Ordered the audio that I want, ordered cobra power port header with a set of cobra 4" slip ons. My biggest questions are about the air breather kit most recomend and what type of tuner will be the most useful now and in the future. I know this can be a matter of opinion, just lookinf for a little info from some that have a little more experience than myself.
Thanks for any advice given
the best bang for buck air cleaner is the ness big sucker from easternpc on ebay- about $120 shipped
flows more than the motor can demand, easy install and uses stock cover.
I have used nightrider.com xieds for years and thousands of miles- they work for me and cost $120.
there are more complex devices and i suggest you look at fuelmoto.com for their superb customer support and aftersale care incl updates and remapping if need be.

This is what I'd do. Actually, it's what I did! You won't be disappointed.
I'm running Cobra true duals with the 909 slip-ons myself. Arlen Ness big sucker and a PCV. No complaints here. I'm running a standard map from power commander right now but plan on having it dynoed. No complaints here.
What I did was I took the stock back plate off and took a dremel and opened up as much as I could then put in a k&n filter the a scarab ventilated cover. I still have the stock look that I like but a whole lot more air then I added a v&h FP3 programmer and it runs great
