Quik question...what is the best way to clean the road grime /oils from the entire engine?? You know...around the pushrod tubes..under engine...all over....Maybe some suggestions for cleaners/degreasers.... Is it Ok to use just an automotive degreaser...Dont want to ruin anything...powerwaser??..I have a lot of chrome addons...any help much appreciated!!
I use original Gunk...basically diesel fuel in a rattle can. The foamy stuff ain't worth squat in my opinion. NO pressure washers. I use a leaf blower or compressed air to get most of the water off, but leave a little to wipe off with your choice of drying towel.
I use a good quality car wash and a baby bottle cleaning brush - it's soft enough not to scratch but stiff enough to clean. Not to hijack the thread, but if anyone else chimes in could you add what you do to keep the black painted engine looking black. I tried the Harley silicone spray and spent the next 2 hours cleaning the overspray off the chrome...

Pig Spit. But you should still cover things you want to protect from over spray
S100 engine brightener or a product from cycle care. The Cycle Care spray, let dry then wipe off the chrome of the overspray. The C/C didn't wash off after two days of rain on one of my trips.
For cleaning I use Simple Green. Most of the grime will hose off. The rest needs a toothbrush. And it won't stain or discolor anything. To bring the engine back to black this is what I use. I spray the engine and then lightly buff the over spray off the chrome and paint.
s100 to do a major cleaning, I spray wd 40 on the black to make it shine use a thin towel to spread it where I want it so it don't get on everything. diamond bright or flitz to clean and polish chrome. and wax wax wax . I use da bomb in between washes to wipe off dust
