Thanks again for all the info, should get a chance to look at the bike tomorrow, will probably stop by and get a crank position sensor as a lot of you have suggested, test what I can and if nothing else put in and cross my fingers.

Stopped by dealer and bought new crank position sensor based on all the suggestions. Got to brother-in-laws where bike was and for S&G's turned ignition switch and hit run button waited a few seconds for light to go out, hit ignition switch and it started. Shut it off and checked for codes, had a P0373 for crank position sensor. Installed new sensor, cleared fault and rode it home.
