I recently had 13 apes installed on my 09 street glide and now the check engine light and p1510 code I'd on. I know it's the tbw problem. Sometimes the throttle is sluggish and doesnt Rev very feels low on power. I was researching and apparently it's the loose tbw . I was wondering is there anyway to fix it without having to take the bars completely apart?
tps is throttle position sensor, you could use a voltmeter to check the operation of the sensor...likewise a meter to trace voltage back to the ecm.
you need to understand the function of each wire and what should be happening in normal operation
if you soldered any wires, look there- soldered joints do not hold up on a vibrating motorcycle (or car)- that's why the manufacturers use crimps
but first-
have you reset the sensor?- you do this by:
bike off- kill switch ON
do NOT touch the throttle grip
turn on the ignition with your right hand- wait until the pump primes and stops- turn OFF the ignition for 4 seconds
repeat this 3 more times
some of us with early TBW ( 08, 09 mostly) seem to have to do a reset every now and again- especially if you use the kill switch to shut down- if your hand moves the throttle as you shut down the calibration is off
I have gotten in the habit of using the ignition with rt hand
