Default Torx bolts

Anyone else have a problem with the torx bolts stripping out on the derby cover? Happened on my last harley, and have 2 of them stuck now on my SG. Hopefully I can extract them without too much trouble, just ordered some SS Allen head bolts to replace them with. I seem to always f up torx bolts somehow, I hate them.

Have never once had one strip out.

Use the right size bit, and they work just fine.

Definitely used the wrong size torx, I know I've done it among many others. You can get some Allen head bolts which I think will not strip as easily. I have the Allen heads and have not come close to stripping.

Just drill the heads off and pop off the cover. the threaded part will then unscrew by hand.

Yo my man, just did that. You saved me a headache, didn't even think of that before. Worked like a charm.

And if you are having trouble with the correct bit use an impact driver. I change most of my bolts to stainless steel alloy ARP 12 point bolts. Although using stainless has some of its own issues (galling) there are ways to lessen the chance.

Yea, this is my first primary change on this bike, previous owner probably tq'd it too much. I did use the right size, but the bit I have is shitty and looks like it bent so didn't help either.
