Rant. I bought a new 2015 Ultra Classic in June, '15. I also bought a prepaid service plan for 3 yrs or 20k miles, at the point of purchase. This plan included a free rental bike. Every 2500 miles you drop the bike off the evening before service, pick up the rental and bring it back the next day. I live about 70 miles from the dealership and thought that this wasn't a bad deal. I was content with the deal and the whole buying experience.
In early May, I made an appointment for a 20k service and rental for May 24, dropping my bike off the night before. When I get there I'm told about an issue with rental company and no rentals are available. A phone call would have been nice. So, the service manager talks to the GM and tells me he will call me the next day. 7days go by and no call, so I call and make an appointment for tomorrow. Before I leave work, I call to make sure there is a rental available as I don't want to walk 70 miles home. No such luck. I cancelled my appointment, went to another dealer and bought a service manual. I will never darken their doorway again.
I hate sound like bitch, but when you pay for a service, I damn well expect it to be honored by the seller

Was the service plan specific to that dealership only? Might see if you can get your service plan taken care of elsewhere. Otherwise I would be bitching hard at the dealership about a refund. Purchasing the service manual is always a good idea. You will need it sooner or later.

You sound like a bitch. My bike is there now getting preferential treatment while you were being pushed aside.

Just kidding lol, but my bike is there now (Elk River Zylstra). I have had pretty decent service there over the past 5 years or so. To bad didn't work out for you.

I've been pretty happy with the place up until now. They acted so flippant about the whole thing. They claim the problem is with the rental company, but it's just that, it's their problem, not mine. I didn't want to raise too much hell with them in case I did take my bike in. Kinda like raising hell at a restaurant before you get your food, lol. Oh well, it was my last prepaid service. I just cut my losses, and I'll service it myself.

I just dropped mine off at Zylstra's in Elk River, MN last night for a fluids change. I bought the bike new there in 2015 and also purchased the service plan and had no clue on the loaner. Guess l need to check into this.

Ya it is hit or miss how you are treated anymore going into Zylstra. I work two blocks from there and tried buying my Ultra from them since I had bought my switchback from them prior but they didn't want to deal on a used 2014 and didn't even get back to me on a quote for a new bike and acted pissed when I stopped in riding my new bike from another dealer. Then next time in they bend over backwards to get you in the service department. Go figure.

yeah, BUT his 20,000 miles were up !!!

the dealer didn't need him anymore.

they'll get friendly again when you're looking to trade that 15 in for an 18 !! with ANOTHER service plan of some sort to empty more money from your pocket !!

Nah, no more bikes from them and no more service plans. I just thought it would be convenient since I live an hour or so away. I realize that **** happens, but geez.

Some 15 years ago when I was looking to buy my first HD, I went inthere with my father to look for a basic 883 that was going to get heavily modified.

After standing/walking around for 10 minutes with nobody coming over to us, we finally asked for a salesman and stated what we were looking for. The salesman laughed and said, "Nobody buys Sportsters..."

Dad and I looked at each other, started walking out and I turned and said, handful of cash, "Well, you're right, we're NOT buying one here today." The salesman was suddenly on our tails to get us to come in and talk, but my dad (80 at the time) told him to f*#% off. Never laughed so hard at my old man. Went up to Ernie Williams in Algona and bought exactly what I wanted that day.

Zylstra's will always be asshats...
