Sure, but good luck using it thereafter without needing to replace the strap.
Good Idea, I have a crap load of those. But no need to cut the helmet strap, the tool required to cut the cable would be just as easy to use as the tool to cut the helmet strap.

Check out You Tube to see how easy cable locks are to defeat, cables much thicker than the ones on the gun locks are extremely easy to cut with a small cable cutter.

Still like the idea, though.

Before I came up with idea of simply closing the saddlebag on the strap, I used a variation of TKDKurt's idea and used a Master lock combination lock so I wouldn't need another key.

I like moving around with the helmet because I've had 4 helmets stolen throughout my riding career and they cost me a lot.

My helmets must be too grungy. Never had one touched. 3 pickups stolen in the last year though so I feel your pain. Just ordered a lid lox for my brother for Christmas. Thanks for the tip

You do know that Harley has been making a helmet lock for years that mounts on the high side of your crash bars. It is chrome and looks good and works very well. Under $25.00. I have used the same one for my last 3 bikes and it is still in good shape. It comes with a key to lock and unlock. You put your D-rings of your helmet thru the lock.

Here is what I keep in a bag on my bike, resettable combo, big, padded, what's not to love? A baby stroller lock!

OL and I both wear full face helmets. Hang them over the fog lights on our RK and run a plastic covered cable through each faceshield and around the connecting cross bar and lock.

I'm pretty sure it's a theft of opportunity and the scum aren't carrying a cable/bolt cutter in their pocket.
But your neighborhoods may vary.
