Helmet lock

If you're into guns, like me, you may have dozens of those free locks that come with rifles and handguns. The cable variety is flexible and useful for passing thru a D-ring and attaching somewhere on the bike. Can a motivated thief cut the strap and still steal the helmet? Sure, but good luck using it thereafter without needing to replace the strap.
Check out You Tube to see how easy cable locks are to defeat, cables much thicker than the ones on the gun locks are extremely easy to cut with a small cable cutter.
Still like the idea, though.

You do know that Harley has been making a helmet lock for years that mounts on the high side of your crash bars. It is chrome and looks good and works very well. Under $25.00. I have used the same one for my last 3 bikes and it is still in good shape. It comes with a key to lock and unlock. You put your D-rings of your helmet thru the lock.

Good Idea, I have a crap load of those. But no need to cut the helmet strap, the tool required to cut the cable would be just as easy to use as the tool to cut the helmet strap.

But your neighborhoods may vary.
