Default Highway Footpegs

Ok, not my first time doing this but new bike, need highway pegs. For the life of me I cannot get the spring washers between the pegs and mount. Anyone share any secrets?

Do you mean the plastic washer? Have never seen any other washer on highway pegs. Have put a bunch on and tight yes but not that hard. Elaborate please or maybe pictures.

No big secret here, but use more force.

I've had the same issue with the spring washers. Just use a back and forth motion, forcing the foot peg to go in between the washer and the mount. When you can, stick a nail or something sturdy through the hole where the screw goes, and help line everything up. It'll get there eventually.

Some tasks require great care and delicate precision - this one simply needs some good ole fashioned brute force! I had a fight with the springs on the highway pegs for my Sporty, until I abandoned Queensbury Rules......

I put a little white grease on mine, use a BMF tool, and a drift punch, and I pay attention to how its supposed to be oriented in there. Also, if you're putting footpegs on a new part, you may have to dress the surfaces a little bit...sometimes powercoat or chrome will take up the space that the spring washer is supposed to occupy.

Work it back and forth while getting it somewhat close. Take a decent sized screwdriver and place in the hole. You can use it to move the spring clip to where you want. Put the bolt in and kinda wiggle things a bit while putting inward pressure on the bolt. First time I ever did one was a pain. Easy street nowadays.
