Title says it all, the cheap jbl 3 ohm speakers didn't last a year, so I either put back the 2 ohm oem speakers or find out a (hopefully) better pair on line.
To be clear I love the ambient volume in the h-d head and I honestly can't find a decent plug and play head unit that gives me ALL the functions of the woeful harmon -kardon. so please just a good set of speakers and I'll be happy.
if you're just replacing speakers, be sure to look for 2 ohm ones. 4 ohm will work, but without an amp, you will lose a lot of volume.
the best bang for the buck is to add an amp then you can go with either 2 ohm or 4 ohm (of course depending on whether the amp is 2 ohm stable). you can do it without breaking the bank.
Im headed down this path soon as well. In anticipation of doing so, I picked up the 6.5" fairing speaker adapters. My research shows going to a larger diameter speaker will add better sound. Again, the audio section has tons of information

ahhh and where do I find such adaptors you speak of??
I went with a ''road''package deal on flea bay...upgrade to a 6.5 inch speaker (w/adaptor) bluetooth am/fm/cd player and aux jack with ''in motion'' volume control.....here's a link. https://vod.ebay.com/vod/FetchOrderD...&ul_noapp=true
