And as far as not know what the OP is doing, that's exactly germane. If he KNEW what he was doing, he would have no need to be out here on the World Wide Web asking. If I post a question on a thread, that's EXACTLY what it means...I don't know what I am doing. And the work that he is attempting is something that I know, right up front, that I don't know what I am doing. So I pay others to do the job.

Get it?
I don't get it, Pard. People ask questions hoping to obtain solutions through other's experience, yet you've posted twice but have helped none. This is a sad day.

I had to grind part of my case to make room for something on there shift paw. Think it was the bolt boss near by. This was after had most of it back together, so after grinding I had to flush main bearing good I taped off the other shaft bearing.

When I did mine, I didn't have any clearance issues but I installed the device on a 2000 Dyna.. Tranny cases are different from a 1999 bagger.

Another thing that I've seen mentioned is how the adjuster is installed an cause issues. The adjuster uses an offset pin on the end of basically a long set screw. The pin fits between the hairpin spring to set the static position of the shift pawl on the drum. If its in the wrong position I might bind the arm..

Thanks Max, I made sure that the eccentric is at the top & not too far in. I think the biggest thing was the talons that grab the dowels were about a 1/4" longer, that contributed to the front lever on the primary to limited movement at the bottom of the lever, so shortening the linkage took care of that. Plus the heim joints seem tight, to the point it may be keeping the levers from going back to the neutral part of the levers so every once in a while I have to touch the heel shift to bring it to that state. May have to get new heim joints. Thanks

Is you gear box stock 99?

Add..

There looks to be 2 shift arms now..

555-56C-A = 1980-00 Big Twins except 2000 Softail
555-56LD-A = 2000-06 Softail, 2001-06 FL, 2001-05 Dyna
Must upgrade to shift drum with ź” pawl pins for PN 555-56LD-A

I believe LD version has a longer claw.. Drums are different. I think you need the early one.

I have the early one 555-56C & 1/4" dowels on the drum. I did mention earlier that I figured out what it was. Shortened the front to rear linkage rod since the front lever was hitting the primary cover underneath. Lubed the heims and all is well. Thanks

Glad you got it figured out twistedcherokee! If you don't mind me asking, why did you change it out in the first place?
