Default Kendon Trailer Questions

For those that have a dual ride up trailer I have a couple questions.

1. My brother and I have highway pegs that cause us to have to tilt the bike "in" to get around the tail lights. Is there any work around for this? Don't want to change the pegs to a higher position and the only thing I can think of is to re-locate the tail lights.
2. We did a test run of trailering the bikes locally to get used to the process and found we had to tighten the straps a couple times. Not sure why but they were tight before we started but loosened somehow. I should note, they are new straps and are ratchet straps. Maybe because they are new they need to break in.
3. How long did it take you to get used to riding the bike up and down. It wasn't as bad as we thought it would be but not confident doing it by myself.

I have a single bike kendon. I found the straps loosening on me as well. I found it as because I did not bottom out the suspension. If the bike can bounce. The straps can loosen.

I also have a Kendon single. Buzz raises a point that will get some of us going. Yes, if the straps are attached above the suspension the "bouncing" bike will loosen the straps. Period. I attach below the suspension. On the front I attached at the fender mounts on the sliders and on the rear I grab the swing are in various places.

Riding up on the trailer gets less scary every time. A buddy taught me to wear my helmet when loading, because watching him fall off and hit his head was dang ugly.

I have the dual ride up. Just hauled 2 SGS 2k miles last week. We fold up our highway pegs for more clearance over lights. I also fold up the outward floorboard for more room. Especially needed when loading 2nd bike as cant lean it in as easily. We still have to tilt loading bike inward to clear the fender/ lower fairings. 1st bike gets tilted outward when 2nd bike goes on, then both stood up and strapped. We strap around the forks/fender mount. Nothing to loosen up that way. Plus I also have the HD tie down brackets for a 2nd set of straps up front. Pull suspension down no more than 1/2. I use the HD straps with the spring loaded safety latch so they cant come off if slacked. Zip tie excess strapping over ratchet so it cant move. 2 straps at rear to keep bikes from bouncing into each other. Im considering to relocate the lights to rear gate for easier loading as you have to step over them, plus they are blocked a good amount by our saddle bags as they are. License plate is mounted on a swing away hinge that opens up to get it out of the way. No concern riding up ramp.

Sideways pics! Ughhhh

Gents, don't mean to hijack the thread. but I'd like ask if I can get some help? I have an older dual bike Kendon trailer (squared tubing) stored, and destroyed my left fender when I blew a tire In Cali as we drove from Texas to put all our things in long term storage. Would anyone have some time to measure a fender (H/W/L) so I can replace both with something close enough to it? I called Kendon for info but I have an old trailer they no longer make. Lastly, if you have 4 lug rims on your trailer would you know the spacing? We're getting ready to leave Japan soon to head back to the states and need to fix it before we get there. Thank you in advance for your time. Cep

I like the idea of putting straps around the forks at the fender mounts but it doesn't seem, in my mind, that there is enough protection to keep it from swaying left to right and keeping it from hitting the other fairing.

I also use straps up high using the HD tie down brackets. My bike has zero movement strapped down that way. Theres alot of leverage working on those low positioned fork only straps, and from a mechanical point of view, not good enough for me. My buddy just used straps at the fender/fork, his would sway a
little. Gotta have a slight outward tilt to keep our fairings from touching with his moving as it did. The tilt is almost non noticeable. Only talking about tilting each bike out an inch or so.

I strap down the same way CVO SG does and have never had an issue. I have seen people tie down on the bars and have issues with the straps loosening.
