Default Does 2" matter??

Well now that I got your attention. ...lol

I am looking to put apes on my 2010 flhtcu. I am leaning to 10" only because it keeps my hands below or even with the fairing. 12" seem to put my hands into the wind. Now I have rode with neither of these only seat time at a dealer. I am wonding do you really get wind/water on your hands with a 12" or does the fairing break it and it goes over. I ride my bike as a mode of transportation more so then every now and then so on those 40 degree mornings it means a lot to me to protect my hands. I am looking for first hand experience from someone who has run both bars. I don't have a problem with either so don't have a real preference but seem to find more used 12" then 10". Thanks for reading and look forward to your input.

You let your wife have a boy friend? They do that in Lancaster?

I have 10" on my Ultra and am very happy with the height and I still get some protection from the fairing, I can feel the cold more on the top of the hands on those 40 degree mornings on the way to work than I did with stock bars. I think 12" will put you over the top of the fairing and you won't get much hand protection at all.

Anything over 10" blocks the stock mirrors.... Ask me how I know. I have 10" Wind Ones and have them tilted and I can still use most of my mirrors a I added a mirror extension that moved them up and out.

Well it looks like he has an Ultra so that wouldn't be a problem. Mirrors on the bars.

I had 10's for a few years and loved them. I just recently went to 12's (WO577's) and love them. I was very surprised to find out that the wind does not beat your hands up like you would think. My WO578's are for SE in the classifieds if anybody is interested. Hope this answers a few questions.

I choose the size of my bars according to my comfort...and for that reason only. I chose twelves. It puts my hands just slightly above the bars, but the wind doesn't bother me. I haven't ridden it in cold weather yet...well, cold from a SoCal point of view...but if it gets to be a problem, I'll do as my buddy did with his fourteens...I'll get a set of those wind deflectors that attach onto the mirrors and cover my hands, like the off road folks use. They come in flat black, and really aren't noticeable. And if you're concerned about your comfort, style comes in a far second!

You may want to look at the Wild one 579's
a little higher and 2 inches more pull back.

I put 10's on my '17 Road Glide in hopes of improving the circulation in my hands and the pain between my shoulder blades. It did move my hands up above the fairing a little, but I haven't noticed the wind, especially on these +90 days. Also, didn't help the numbness in my fingers, but my upper back pain is less noticable. I think 10" is about all you can get w/o changing out at least some of the wiring.
