I have searched here and not found what I am looking for. Does anyone have first hand experience with this seat. I did see some where they did a demo ride, I would like to hear from those that have put some real miles on one, good or bad. Thanks in advance for any and all coments.
The good: I had one on my 06 for a while. It is super comfortable, you can adjustable on the fly, the air in the seat gives you some extra road smothing (rides like an old caddy) and an all day seat.
The draw backs are it's ugly as sin, and it raises you up quite a bit. I ended up selling it off as I couldn't get used to the seat height, just felt to top heavy, and had to tip toe with it.
I have one I bought from a forum member. I like it, the OL likes it. I think it looks nice, but it is huge. If it's pumped up it does make you sit very high. The only issue I have with mine may be related to my old dresser, 98 ultra. The accessory plug is wired into the same circuit as the turn signals and cigarette lighter, I smoke. If I don't turn the acc. switch off before I push in the lighter it pops the fuse and I lose turn signals, and can't light my smoke. So it draws quite a bit of power I think. It took a while to figure out what the heck was going on, I thought I had a short somewhere in the lighter wiring.
I bought mine to make my wife comfortable. She doesn't ride much anymore, but I haven't taken that seat off since I put it on. I have rode many 800 mile days on it and it is the most comfortable seat I have ever owned.
It raised me one inch. I did have to buy a new windshield because of it. I think it would look bad on a SG without a tour pack. This seat with a backrest and 14" bars makes for an extremely comfortable ride for me.
I got one, I like it. I rode 1600 miles on vacation last year and my butt never got sore. Give or take a little air to adjust your position. I'd buy another if I bought a new bike.
i've been on one for some time... found a good deal on CL for $150. mint condition, but pumps were not working. Sent it in and had it fixed for $60 i think.
It was originally on an 11 Ultra. I totaled that bike, but managed to swap the seat out with stock before insurance took it.
I love the seat. OL loved the seat. i loved the adjustability going down the road if you wanted to give your **** a different feel.
Now I have a 16 SGS. The stock seat is not very comfortable and doesnt fit me with the bars and windshield. So I put the Zep on the SGS. Yes it does look huge on that bike, and due to the 3 button control panel, the left saddle bag does not open without lifting up on the seat a bit to move the control panel out of the way.
While I like the comfort and position the seat gives me, I am going to try and trade the seat for another touring seat that wont interfere with the left bag.
I love mine. My wife and I have no complaints. We just finished a 2,300 mile trip and the ability to modify our seating position on the fly made it that much more comfortable.
Had one on my 06 UC great seat. Wore it out and had it recovered. Got a new one on the 17 but didn't hold air like the old seat. Went with the heated CVO seat on the 17 SG.
No experience with the road zeppelin seat. I used to run a Sundowner, and it was pretty good. Now I'm using a Mustang seat with the removable backrest. That can get uncomfortable after a while. So, instead of buying yet another pricey seat, I got the HD circulator seat pad. For 89 bucks vs. 800 plus for the zeppelin, I'm quite happy with it. Don't underestimate the benefit of airflow to help keep you comfortable. YMMV.
