Default k&n air filter kit

Just installed a k&n airfilter kit on my RG. Just curious, does anyone else have one? The backing plate is changed out, theres a rubber velocity stack and the filter cover is out further due to spacers. The element is partially showing which looks like **** to me. Dont like that the whole unit is out further hitting my leg more. Thinkin bout goin with an S&S Single-Bore Tuned Intake. Anyone have one on here that can provide feedback????

..try a SE backing plate with K&NHD-0800 and just a medallion..about as close as you can get.

Which K&N do you have? I have the 3909 and the only way I can see the back plate is looking straight down. Can't see the element at all.

Im using the same one. You have to be able to see the filter. When you remove the stock backing plate you are losing the intake hole. the k&n backing plate is flat, when you bolt the stock cover on theres approx inch and a half of the filter showing. Unless im doing something majorly wrong ???

Doesn't sound right, should not be able to see the element. Can you post a pic? Maybe we can take a look see and help you figure it out.

I have the 3910 and I can see about 1/2-inch of the element. The 3909 element is supposed to beabout 5/8-inch narrower.

On this same subject, sort of. I have the se ac, and want to change the element to the k & n. Do I need the hd-0800, 3909 or 3910 or which one? I took the cover off today, and was thinking of putting on just a 6" cover on the face of it, leaving the element exposed. Does anyone have a part number for a face cover? I know that it wont be good in the rain, but I can carry the original cover in my bags with an allen wrench. Also, does anyone sell just a chrome backing plate? The silver one on the se ac is ugly, next to the chrome.
