Returning to Fort lauderdale from Cape Flattery Washington State , the rear wheel bearing on my NEW 7 weeks old 2017 Ultra disintergrated , and 9999 on the speedo miles and 3300 miles from home.
9999 miles New Harley 2017 Ultra
The HD dealer in LACEY took 2 1/2 days to repair the bike , and then they only replaced 2 of the three bearings ??????
What ???
Oh the other bearing wasn't damaged WTF
What a clown the warrant cost of the bearing must be +- $2 dollars and they only replace 2 bearings WHAT A FFFFFFFFING JOKE
VERY DISAPPOINTED IN HARLEY QUALITY
HARLEY WARRANTY POLICY
AND STAY AWAY FROM HD LACEY
Arrived back in Fort Lauderdale with the back wheel grinding ?????? took it to ALLIGATOR HD dealer
Service tech took all the details and said "we will get on to it straight way maybe tomorrow "
Thanks ALLIGATOR HD

Thanks POCo Ill check it out If you look at wheel bearings on youtube there is a suggestion that you "gently " lift off the seal wash out the factory grease and apply a decent high quality wheel bearing grease . As an engineer Ive been safely doing that for years . When I mentioned repacking the bearings the service tech nearly fainted (clown)
The other thing that pisses me off , if you ask a HD dealer to install only 1 wheel bearing , he would absolutely refuse saying that it is good practice to replace all the bearings .
JA good advice until HD have to pay for the extra under warranty
I wonder what is involved with a CLASS ACTION LAW SUITE for failed wheel bearings .
or must some one die before there is an investigation, into poor wheel bearings
Sadly this isn't the first we've heard of junk bearings. I replaced all of my wheel bearings at 44k miles. I now have 61k on the bike and will more than likely renew again at the next tire change.
First there are 4 bearings for the rear wheel and not 3. If the dealer only replaced the 2 bearings in the rear wheel on your bike you should have been good. (1 bearing should have been the ABS encoder and one standard) The other two bearings go into the drive sprocket and don't support the weight of the bike. I don't think Harley has been having trouble with the ABS bearings only the standard ones. I wouldn't be surprised to learn your new non ABS bearing in the rear wheel has gone bad. I purchased aftermarket bearings when I changed mine out. You might want to do the same.

upon further investigation, I retract my earlier statement. there are in fact 2 bearings on the 'cush drive'.... making a total of 4 bearings on the rear wheel. I misread the parts manual earlier. sorry....
