Sand and salt in early Spring is definitetly something to be aware of...and especially watch out for
DEER!!! in the early evening hours.

Your riding season really depends on you, the April to November time frame is about right
for "seasoned" Minnesotans...your milage may vary!

 

I ride from late March until real snow, which equals all the sand/salt on the road. Usually until mid to late Nov.
With the right gear it's no problem. I grew up around Alex, great area to ride. I'm up there frequently.

Deer are a huge issue in the evening and early morning so just keep a watchful eye on the ditches.
