The issue I have with using a cell phone for GPS is that they require service to work right. They generally work fine in cities. But when you get out in the boonies...not so much. I just returned from a trip out around Crater Lake and my cell based (Sprint) GPS was pretty much useless outside of large towns. But a friends Apple (AT&T) worked pretty well.

The other big deal on newer bikes would be the ABS and linked brakes...but you said yours has ABS and you are otherwise happy with it. So...like others have said...you can add the things you want for far less than a new bike would cost. But if you're looking for an excuse to get a new ride...then that's entirely different.

Same boat here. 2011 SG i bought new and did some nice upgrades. All paid off and im jonesin' for a new bike. Such an internal struggle, though, because my bike is just fine!

Urgh... lol

Im coming up with every excuse i can think of to justify a trade up. Lol

EDIT - My main excuses are that I want more power than my 96" TC has. I also want less stuff (no radio, fairing, etc...), which means im mainly looking at the Road King. Wish the 114 motor was an option! Me thinks it will be next year. Also considering new Heritage Classic with the 114.

I'm perfectly happy with my 2007 SG! Saved myself a lot of money being content.

I traded my 2010 Ultra Limited for my current 2016 RGS. Best "upgrade" I've ever made. The ride is better, the GPS doesn't suck (once you read the manual and know how to use it), the radio also doesn't suck and can play MP3's (if that's important), the fairing is better (though admittedly my change was from batwing to fixed), and the 103HO is definitely refined over the 103 of old.

Rent one - take it somewhere for a weekend. If you aren't impressed, you're out the cost of the rental.
