Default Pre-Rushmore Trade Up

I am thinking about trading up from my 2011 Street Glide 103, ABS and security. As you can see I have a lot of money in it and it's been paid for.

What appeals to me is the one touch bags and the GPS.

I was thinking of going 2016 or 2017 Street Glide Special.

Has anyone traded up and regretted it?

Has everything including Sony radio.

Default Trading up

I traded my 2010 Ultra Limited with a stage lV kit and all kinds of other upgrades for a 2016 Ultra Classic. I have 14K on the 2016 and it's been great. So was my 2010 If I had to do it all over I would have kept the 2010. The 2010 had40K on it.

if it's just the one touch bags and gps that you're after, then save your money and buy new bags. they'll retrofit to your bike easy enough. and a garmin is a much better gps than the one on the infotainment system.

now, if you really want a new bike. I say go for it. life's too short to play, 'coulda, woulda'

Methinks there is much more than one touch bags that you want to justify this

Like skratch said above, retro-fit your bags. Otherwise, if you just want one, you're looking to move up 6-7 years, go for it. Paid for is nice too. Especially if what you have is dependable.

I can see why the one touch bags would enhance your core riding experience. Not so...to me...the GPS...never been something I've ever needed, in fact, for me, the old paper maps and Thomas Guides work BETTER than the electronic...don't get me wrong, I've used them, and would be all over the technology...if it worked as I think it should.

That said, I think if you have any loyalty toward your scooter, you will always regret a trade up. It's just a HELL of a lot cheaper to retrofit the bags...easy, too. But as rhuff says, if there are other issues extant, scratch the itch. But be prepared to spend thousands of dollars over and above what you pay for the motorcycle to get it as you want it again!

So I was at the dealer kicking tires. They had a 2016 FLHXS with 209 miles that was a demo for general manager. They wouldn't budge on the price and valued my ride at $11,000.

So based on that I'll probably keep my bike.

So with that being said, what brand are using for extended bags with 2014 function?

Also how are you mounting your cell/gps and wiring it? Any issues with using a cell phone for gps?

Take a new one for a ride, you'll find there is a LOT more to the Rushmore.
If you think your bike is worth more than $11k, put it up for sale and you'll find the REAL value of your investment.

I agree

I have a 2014 and do not use the HD GPS I have a garmin 590LM ($750) which is far superior. Bags are no big issue. It looks like you have a great scoot with low mileage and have put a lot into it. The unfortunate reality is that you would be disappointed on a trade in and there is a glut of low mileage used bikes out there .

I would do the upgrades that you really want and wait . JMO

11 grand is about the average trade in, dealers do not care about anything you've added (until they go to sell it, then those goodies add to their jacked up prices). Check other dealers, some will be more than happy to deal a leftover 16 or 17.

Personally, I would never buy a demo. You never know how it was treated, gotta figure most will beat on it due to the fact that it's not theirs.

Check out https://www.ironacesspeedshop.com for a gps mount. They look sweet and put the gps in your line of sight and off the bars.

Also, check out the zumo gps by garmin. mount is awesome, weather proof, vibration resistant, etc... I have one works great. I don't think the standard car gps hold up to the abuse
