my recommendation, check the accuracy of your speedo. HD is bad about being off 3 to 5% and when corrected your mpg will drop to around 40, like most HD tourers. then add and enrichment device to cool the bike off and it will decline some more

I'm sorry but I have to call BS on all the 50 mpg statements. Calibrate your speedo and you will not be getting that kind of mpg unless you are running all downhill or are running extremely lean. When I had my speedo calibrated my mpg went down a good bit. I averaged a little over 36 mpg over 2400+ miles on a trip last year. That included interstate at 75-80, 2 lane highway and passing through towns.

The '17 SG that was with us on the same 6,100 mile trip mpg's sucked like yours.
Ok I took a 400 mile trip and checked it and I am getting 45.2 sounds little better
I I was liking the 50 mpg but 45 is more like the rest of you so yeah sorry for the false estimation on my part
Really I consider 36 mpg not too bad on my modded engine running at the speeds I was running. Had my bike retuned and will see what it does this year over 3000 + miles.
Stage I was getting 44.5 mpg, after Stage II now I'm getting best 39.8 mpg.
A trade off for more power, it's definitely worth it IMHO.

It seems that perfection is reached not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.
