Ya I know Larry......lol. But I still call BS on anyone claiming 50mpg. Now maybe you can answer a question for me. Why does wscott always go into one of those long winded posts with the same BS?????
Call BS if you want, but pay attention, I said way up in elevation 8-14k, in the mountains, that's where the good MPG's came from, always does, carb or efi.
My other bikes average about the same as yours, better if I try.

Lots of excellent information. I appreciate his taking the time to share.

Thanks for kind words.
All i was doing is trying to point out why some bikes get considerably better fuel mileage @ times then others do for all sorts of reasons.
But unfortunately more then a few guys here get their shorts in a twist when ever somone posts more then the usual 1 or 2 liner type posts which i guess gives them a headache.
Maybe instead of complaining they should either add/post something positive to help or simply don't read longer posts when they see they contain more details & info they can handle or want to read that makes them complain like little old men that have nothing better to do but bitch about nothing!/LOL!!
Oh well, you can't satisfy everyone & lord knows i am not doing this trying to satisfy anyone,i do it just to get the info out to fellow HD riders that may be interested in checking out another take on it.
" I'm sorry but I have to call BS on all the 50 mpg statements. I averaged a little over 36 mpg over 2400+ miles on a trip last year. That included interstate at 75-80, 2 lane highway and passing through town. "
But your dead wrong on guys reporting higher mpg because i am one of them that in fact knows how properly calc mpg that has also checked the speedo on my hd via gps showing to be accurate enough well within spec for miles & speed.
And when i check fuel mileage i always put the bike in same position on side stand and fill to same approx lvl in fuel tank to ensure more consistent reading, when riding local i use same station & pump for even more accuracy too.
Scott
WTH difference does it make what position the bike is in when you fill it up? MPG is calculated from dividing the number of miles ridden by the amount of gallons consumed. If you keep records from every fill up you can calculate per ride or over a LONG period of time. That would be the only true number in my books!

AMEN brother! Sheesh! And I thought that I had a lot of nothing to say!
I get about 40 to the gallon with a stage 1 SE air and rush 3" slipons with the 1.5 baffles and a fuelmoto tune.
Still yet to auto tune as I'm looking at TTI's to bring back some lost touqe and to tone down the volume abit.
