The beauty of having the PDF is that you print out the pages that are pertinent to the task at hand so when you get them all greasy you toss them out.

glad you had a moment of zen. nothing like stepping away from everything, wrenching on your bike and not only feeling like you accomplished something, but the feeling of saving money too. after helping friends work on other bikes, i'm always happy at how easy everything is to do on the harley.

Like comparing a Harley to a metric, a well used greasy manual has soul.

What he says!! I do know some guys with no interest in doing their own wrenching and I guess if they want to pay more and not get dirty, well that's for them to decide. I'm with the OP, kind of nice to throw a leg over and feel pride in your own work.

I do most of the basic servicing - oil changes, adjustments, and etc as per manual. If something major needs done, I will take it in to an indy who takes pretty good care of things. I like referring to the service manual to see what they are going to do to fix. Actually learn from that and talking to the indy. Problem is my indy is retiring soon and I think his place will close. Will probably have to seek out a new guy at some point. Just not comfortable, nor have tools for tearing it open if something big happens. But appreciate having the opportunity to ask on the forum whenever I have a "dumb" question. Thanks everybody for helping out with my past questions!! Jim

There is that, of course! But all the grease in my paper version tells a story!

But...like...who cares, I reckon!
