Default Help! No Fuel

Ok so last weekend I was on a day ride and went to fire up the 2011 Road King. Dead battery. Tried to push start it just for ***** and giggles. Obviously that didn't work. Guy at the ferry terminal had a couple batteries on a dolly and we were able to start it. It fired right up. Drove it home and parked it. Got a new battery and plugged it in. Bike turns over great but doesn't fire. Checked spark, good there. Put a little gas in the throttle body and she fired right up. No indication of gas at the base of the spark plugs. Looked into the gas tank and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Is there a sensor or something electrical I should check first before gutting the tank...something related to the dead battery? Gutting the tank looks like a bear.

The pump primes.

I can hear a little gurgling and spraying, splashing inside the tank. Guess I need to gut it. Is this job best to just pull the tank and bring it to a guy or...

Did you check the disconnect? Seen some posts about the o ring being bad and that stops the flow?

Probably the internal hose in the tank developed pinholes.

So I have the tank pulled and gas sucked out. Is it worth just bringing the tank in or is it worth doing the job myself? I typically do all my own work, but I have a spare $100 and if it is a huge B!tch with all the hoses and what not I can just bring it in.

Sounds like the inside hose from fuel pump to bottom disconnect has a hole in it, not a hard job, just take your time..

Do they sell these things in kits? Somewhere I read your suppose to replace the pump at 20k...or maybe that was just the filter. I looked a bit but didnt find a kit and nothing on the HD website.

Ok, I pulled everything out and did not see any pin holes or evidence of leaking. I put all the guts back together and I set it all up, outside of the tank, with the intake in a bucket of gas. Turned the ignition on and gas spurted out the top of the little canister thing that holds the fuel filter. So I guess now I where were there is a leak. Problem is...I am not sure if that canister was leaking prior to disassembly. Lesson learned...If you suspect a problem crack open the cam and hit the ignition to see if anything is leaking PRIOR to pulling the gas tank and the pump. I swear I heard odd gurgling and spraying noises when priming the pump before I pulled the parts. This stuff bugs the hell out of me...its all I will think about until it is fixed. Wish I at least new what the original problem was.
