I suppose it is a little like bringing in your own food to a restaurant and asking them to cook it. At least that's what my brother said who owns the shop.

Had a similar problem on my '08 FLHT. Found that the gas spraying out the top is normal, once the lines are charged, the excess fuel is discharged back into the tank. Only happens on initial startup, when priming the system, because it is a positive pressure system. turned out to be a fuel pickup line was loose. Snapped back into place on the fuel pump, and all is well again. Did this on the side of the road, with tolls I routinely carry. Bike now has 106,000 miles, same fuel pump, works fine.
