I recently replaced my stock cams with andrews 48h cams also put screaming eagle oil pump and cam plate, have a screaming eagle big air breather, screaming eagle tuner, put s&s premium lifters, and new bearings for the cams, it was an easy install but cant get the tune right and its building a lot of pressure also blow out a push rod o ring this is after are local Harley dealership tuned it as well runes alright but can t figure out why it's missing in second and in fourth gear at 3000 rpms , does anyone have a map or advice to what need to be done I'm stuck and wanna ride.
My understanding is the SE tuner isn't nearly as as good as it used to be due to the EPA stepping in and dictating that it can only make changes that stay within their regulations. I don't think the settings needed for the 48's fall within those regulations, so getting a "good tune" with it might be problematic. Of course this is my understanding, and probably someone with more knowledge of these things good provide more insight.
I have the 48H in my 05 Fat Boy with stage 1 air filter and V&H long shots and the bike runs awesome..I bout a Pc3 tuner from fuel Moto and had them pre map it...never had to get it tuned after that was installed..I would suggest you do the same
If you are blowing o rings ya got more than tune trouble. Dealers are seldom good tune people and the SE tuners have been so restricted as to be useless. Especially with non SE stuff.
Good luck!
That shouldn't be happening. The 48's do have more CCP due to the intake close but they are pretty mild cam. Check the installation timing on the cams via the marks or a compression test. I ran them for a season before my engine build and they were an awesome cam.
