Default Manual -vs- DVD

I do my own service work on my bike & I really like knowing that everything is done to my standards.Any major workI have is done by a good friend who knows a lot more then me! My question is, I have a buddy who just bought his first scoot & wants to be able to handle the small work & fluid changes himself. He asked what is better to get - Fix my Hog DVD or the Servive manual? I don't havethem so I can't recommend either one & thought I would see what everyone recommends.

Thanks

Service manual has never failed me. A good tip with the manual is to read the entire process before you actually start. Then, as you start, keep several steps ahead in mind. This will make sure you get your hands in the right place, or have the necessary tools close by.

+1 on both. The DVD is good, but you really need the manual as well.

Both. If he can only get one at a time - get the service manual first. Get the DVD down the line.

Both for sure. And if he could only get one or the other: the service manual.

This is a no brainer. I have both and while the Fix my Hog DVD is good, you won't use it nearly as much as your service manual. I say get both if you can afford it. If not, the service manual.

Thanks for all the responses so quickly. I'm sure he has no problem getting both if most say it's worth it. Weboth agreed that if one covers it allor most of it, why get both but sounds like he can't go wrong & it's worth the money for both.

Thanks again guys!
