The first ride after stage one I was blown away at the performance increase. Didn't take long for me to realize it was false hype and just the much more aggressive sound that had me fooled. It does run cooler but that is due to not having a cat. To be honest I don't think it did a darn thing performance wise. I did VH pro pipe, fuel moto intake and PV5
IMO, a stage I upgrade is not a performance upgrade. The most I would expect from a stage I upgrade is a 5-10% performance increase. A stage I upgrade is to enrich the AFR so the bike is not running lean and hot.
If you are looking for a true performance increase, that is what stage II (mainly cams) and III (headwork) are for.

10% increase just by ditching the restrictive exhaust and intake is pretty good in my book...
Look for yourself. Definitely the best bang for the buck. HP and Torque only gets more expensive from here.
If you're looking for a great deal on Stage 1 stuff Fuel Moto will give you the PV for less than $200.00 if you buy their E-Series 2 into 1 exhaust. Just got one for my 16 RK. This pipe makes great torque and is easy on the ears.

I kinda figured I was the only one that felt this way. I agree that the most noticeable improvement was heat reduction.
A Stage 1 is not that big of an increase in performance as much as it's a decrease in the amount of heat you feel and an increase in the amount of sound you hear. That said, it's still worth it, in my opinion.
3 greatest lies:
1. I'll always love you
2. I won't *** in your mouth
3. Stage 1 will give your bike extreme noticable gains that you can actually feel and make your bike like a cannon.
Stage 1 done properly will give more air in (AC) exhaust out, and a proper tune eliminates a factory lean choked out engine. If you are looking for the seat of the pants upgrade, move on to Stage 2
