Default 1999 road king strange noise after sitting in traffic

Gonna be as specific as I can, 99 road king 88ci, 30k miles fuel injected, sat on a bridge (no shoulder) for approx 45 mins in a crawl of traffic, no problems after the traffic cleared. Next day a slight hiccup and crazy metal sound almost like metal BB's by intake, a few days later no hiccups but I am having a strange noise, maybe pinging? I have to put my head by the tank while cruising to hear it good, isn't constant but I hear it all through out my ride, 10mph to 60 and so on, what could this be? I appreciate any info, prior to sitting in traffic I had zero zero issues

Have the cam chain tensioners ever been attended to?

check the oil? might be time for a set of rockouts. I also agree with checking tensioners in cam chest, before u ride any further.

Cam plate/bearing upgrades about 2,000 miles ago along with the shoes, it's not a constant noise it seems to go away under certain load conditions, seems when I'm running 65-70 it goes away

See if you can duplicate the noise in neutral while stopped by increasing RPM. That could point towards engine or drive line. Noises and leaks can fool you sometimes; you think it's coming from one place and it's really not.

The metal sound in the beginning only occurred when the bike would hiccup, seems to go away when the bike was at full operating temp (all warmed up) oil is due for a change in about another 200-300 miles or so, since I have had the bike I have always used syn3 when I can't get my hands on amsoil

I did that exact same thing, at a light I brought the ending up to I'm assuming cause I don't have a tach 2k RPM, 3k and if was all normal, normal valve train noise and zero noise from the bottom end, I usually run Sunoco 93 but I had ran wawa 92 the past time or 2
