Default Listen for 'pinging'

Not long enough to do much of anything but ill have to wait and see. If anyone has experience with these, what do I do now? DYNAJET sent me a map to use as a base. Do I save the new trims or what? their instructions don't say a whole lot.

For some reason any map I've tried that had any advance on the timing caused pinging. I just zero'd all the numbers in the timing column at the advice of the helpful guys at Fuel Moto. It worked and the bike has run great ever since. I've even run 86 octane when nothing else was available with no issues at all. Isn't it odd that with the level of sophistication of the PC5 and the AT that they made the connectors so primitive between the 2?

It was an easy install. Worst part was making it all look good by hiding and tidying up the wiring for it from the o2 sensors. Took less than an hour to do. I've put a lot into this bike. Its a 2003 road king classic and the past two years, I've dumped a lot of chrome on it, a power commander 5, new tensioners, S&S 510 cams as well as adjustable rods, and cam bearings, now this Auto tuner. Not to mention basics like tires and oil and filters etc. I will never ever get that out of the bike but I have now decided I will keep it till it blows and then maybe keep it longer. I am **** about my bikes. I like to know everything there is and I'm constantly listening for things. People have told me I'm paranoid but you know your life depends on your bike and how well it is maintained and ridden.

So was the Autotune worth it, is the bike running great?

I'm on the fence, that's why I am asking.

Steelpony16, I went for a short ride yesterday so I cant say for sure, but it had already started trimming the table. Two reasons I went with it was to yes get the best power I could out of it short of a dyno, but also the fuel mileage. Logic dictates that if you are burning the fuel completely and properly you should be able to use less fuel to accomplish the same work. The base map Dynojet sent me for this I ran prior to putting in the auto tune. They custom wrote a map for me knowing I was contemplating buying it. Low end seemed ok but wide open throttle there was a low drone and not a lot of pull. After yesterdays short ride, within three or four miles, I have already noticed that low drone is all but gone and the pull is already more responsive. And that was with the first iteration. The more it gets used to my driving and the bike the better it will be not to mention the Fuel/air ratio is set to try to attain 13.2. For all around power that seems to be the target and its already working on that. Yes, I think it will be worth the money. Expensive yes but if a dyno is not near or cheap, this will do the trick. I was quoted for a one time dyno run in Windsor Ontario (60 miles from where I live) $800 Canadian set up and $350 per hour after that. I'm already money ahead and if I change even more things to the motor this tuner will continue to tweak.

To the OP: If you are fortunate enough to improve your mileage by 5%, then you might improve each tank by 10 miles, figuring you fill up an average of 5 gallons. For me, I pay around $2.80 for premium so the extra 10 miles saves me about a 1/4 gallon per tank. That's about 70 cents. Doing the math, you would have to ride over a 100,000 miles to recoup your $365 outlay. For me, it's all about performance which efficiency is a by product. If I cared about fuel mileage, I probably would have bought a rice burner....
You may want to research what some are setting their autotune A/F mixture settings at. I doubt they would be lean (13.2) for performance. Even the install manual recommends 13.7-14.0 range. I have played with my PCV for a couple of years and have a nice compromise of mileage and power. I already average around 38-39 and rarely am on I on a highway unless I'm doing 80. I am still lurking and hope your results are to your liking. Like I said, I want performance, which is throttle response, smooth acceleration and power. I love my PCV but have always wondered if the Autotune would be worth it.

Hate Work, like most here I want performance and if a little better mileage comes with it, all the better

Those S&S 510 cams are begging for 95", some mild port cleaning and a .030 head gasket.
