Default Tuning after cam install?

Thought I’d throw this question out there -

I’m planning to put Andrews 57h cams in my 2012 FLHX pretty soon, and I’m wondering about the cost/benefit of tuning options after the new cams are in.

I currently have the SE super tuner, and I’m wondering whether I should look to get the bike dyno tuned using that tuner, or purchase a new tuner (likely from Fuel Moto) with a custom map (and skip the dyno)?

Been down the same road with an 11 flhtk, andrews 54h cams, .030 cometic head gasket, xpipe-v&h ovals, s&s oil pump, cam plate, etc. Used a custom map and tts tuner exact for my setup and no matter how much I messed with it, I never could get the tune right on my own.
Half day at the dyno with an experienced tuner (not me) and the bike ran amazing.

Highly recommend getting a dyno tune using your super tuner. Plus you'll save money!

Get it tuned by a good tuner. You will be glad you did

Having done it all (basic tuners, canned maps from fuel moto and Dynajet, “auto tunes” many times) nothing beats a proper Dyno tune by someone who knows what they are doing. Not sure your SE tuner is supported or useable anymore?

I was thinking that this might be an issue - most dyno places that I’ve found mention that they want to use a PC tuner so I was wondering if I’d be able to get it done using the Super Tuner. Hoping someone may have some insight on that?

I use canned maps and a PowerVision tuner with Auto Tune Pro to dial in maps, ONLY, because I know of no good tuners within a days drive of my home...

If you know/can find a good dyno tuner in your area... than by all means use them... also, let them tune the bike with whatever tuner they feel most comfortable with....

If they give you a choice of tuner, and the PowerVision is one of them, I would use the PV... it can be changed/added to numerous other bikes, can be used as a DTC reader on any bike, doesn't lock your tune/ECM, and it's fairly easy to use...

Good luck..

That's amazing. I have a really nice map from FM and my bike runs great. I just didn't think there' a lot left on the table, yet I keep seeing posts like yours which make me think I should get the bike tuned, we have well known tuner on the other side of the Bay.

Do you have a before and after graph?

If you are looking for a plug & play fuel tuner, and don't like to downloading maps, or dyno tunes, then read on!

After installing 57h cams my auto tuner made adjustments 80 times a second automatically, every time I ride.
